FIFTH AND LAST DAY - LATHONES TO ST ANDREWS

I returned to a very foggy but, mercifully, dry Lathones for the final stretch through north east Fife to the ancient town of St Andrews. It needed the hi-viz jacket as the road has no footpath and the beautiful countryside of the six mile stretch was completely shrouded in the haar. The target was to reach the cathedral in time for Mass at 1130. It was a fitting end to a memorable pilgrimage where I was privileged to walk through my beloved and glorious Kingdom of Fife. Sadly, I wasn't able to identify my fellow pilgrims from Edinburgh and hope we may meet in the future. The day ended with a visit to the peaceful and beautiful Episcopal Church of All Saints, founded as a Mission for the fishermen of that part of the town and therefore dear to my own heart as a supporter of the Mission to Seafarers. I commend this pilgrimage to all who may ponder future participation.
