November Bulletin

Dear Friend,

Here is our latest bulletin. In particular we bring your attention to

  • New Route. Rosslyn Chapel to St Andrews via Edinburgh
  • Volunteer route researchers wanted to explore other routes to St Andrews
  • Your views on naming of route, badge design, and places of interest in St Andrews.

There are 6 short items below for your consideration.

ROSSLYN CHAPEL to St Andrews via Edinburgh.

In reaction to popular demand, particularly from overseas, we have established a route from Rosslyn Chapel to Edinburgh, where it picks up St Margaret’s Way to St Andrews .

This should prove popular to visitors to Edinburgh who can make the easy journey by public transport to Rosslyn Chapel, only 13 kilometres south west of Edinburgh and a 30 minutes ride by public transport.

In addition, Michael Turnbull, the writer and broadcaster, is prepared to give groups a powerpoint presentation and guided tours at Rosslyn Chapel without charge. Please see the website for contact details

A BETTER BADGE?

The scallop shell has become the symbol of pilgrimage and our current badge combines that with the Saltire.  Can you provide a better design? Please visit the website and add your ideas and comment in A BETTER BADGE in the Further thoughts and comments section of  the FORUM

BETTER PHOTOS OF ST ANDREWS

Our photographs of St Andrews on the website could be better. Can you provide any? Please provide through CONTACT ME on the website

NAMING OF ROUTES

Three of the seven main planned routes have already been named. What do you think the other routes to St Andrews, from  Carlisle, Aberdeen, South Glasgow and Stranraer  should be called?  Your views please in ROUTE NAMING in Further thoughts and comments section of  the FORUM.

PLACES OF INTEREST IN ST ANDREWS

We have been asked to recommend a circuit in St Andrews of places of cultural interest , religious or otherwise, within easy reach of walkers or cyclists. What do you recommend and why? Please give us your suggestions in ST ANDREWS CIRCUIT in in Further thoughts and comments section of  the FORUM.

TRAILBLAZE CAMPAIGN

Many long distance walkers are  complaining about plans to put “Trailbalaze” boxes on popular walks and  National Trails.  Please visit http://www.trail-blaze.co.uk, check the updates and, if you agree, add your name to the petition.
