Glasgow centre to Kirkintilloch

Part of Part 2 – Whithorn to South Queensferry

Mainly along a canal towpath, this 26th section of St Ninian’s Way is mainly on the Forth and Clyde Canal towpath all the way to Kirkintilloch, passing a nature reserve and running parallel with Antonine Wall. Starting at Glasgow Cathedral, go west to join Castle Street, then North for 400 m where it meets a footpath going west. Take footpath through park 600 m until it joins North Wallace Street, then go North across Baird Street and under the motorway to T-junction with footpath in Sighthill Park (400 m). Go west to Craighall Road and Bridge over the Glasgow spur of the Forth and Clyde Canal( 600 m). Cross bridge and go west along footpath, then across another bridge to join the main canal tow path( 200 m) . Follow canal path to Possil Marsh Nature Reserve ( 3 km), then to junction with Antonine Wall ( 5 km) and then parallel to the wall to the centre of Kirkintilloch (3 km).
